President Mahama to Walk the Runway During Back Star Experience Fashion Week

President John Dramani Mahama is expected to take to the runway to promote the patronage of Ghana-made wear.

The Ghana Fashion Week as part of the 365-day Black Star Experience will be held in July and will witness the President of Ghana take to the catwalk.

“When we host the Ghana Fashion Week in July, it’s going to be a full seven days to spotlight our vibrant fashion industry. I your president will proudly take to the catwalk,” Mahama said during the launch of Black Star Experience on May 1.

According to him, outfits from his wardrobe designed by Ghanaians would be showcased at the event.
“On that day I’m going to go into my wardrobe and change three times and I’m going to walk on the catwalk and any time I walk, I’m going to tell you which designer sowed that dress.”

President Mahama revealed that all his public outfits from traditional to conventional since assuming office in January are designed by Ghanaian fashion creatives.
