President Mahama Rings Opening Bell at London Stock Exchange

President John Dramani Mahama has rung the iconic opening bell at the London Stock Exchange in Paternoster Square.

The symbolic event on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, officially marked the start of trading at one of the world’s leading financial hubs.

The ceremonial bell-ringing underscored Ghana’s growing presence in global financial markets and signalled the country’s commitment to deepening international economic partnerships.

Presiding over the Market Open ceremony, President Mahama joined investors, market officials, and members of Ghana’s delegation for the symbolic tradition.

For the London Stock Exchange, hosting a sitting Ghanaian president to open the day’s trading reflects confidence in Ghana’s economic outlook and ongoing reforms to attract foreign investment.

The President’s participation forms part of broader engagements aimed at positioning Ghana as a competitive destination for capital, trade, and strategic partnerships under the African Continental Free Trade Area.
