Otumfuo Foundation Reaches Sekyere East Pupils with Free Dental Care

The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation has delivered free dental care to pupils in Daakoho and surrounding communities in the Sekyere East District, as part of its ongoing “Otumfuo Smiles Dental Outreach” programme.

The outreach took place on June 18, 2026, and focused on promoting healthy smiles and improved oral health among basic school children in the area.

Four schools benefited from the exercise, including Daakoho D/A Basic School, Nahiniso D/A Basic School, Nahiniso SDA Basic School, and Bimma R/C Basic School.

Dental professionals attending the outreach provided essential services to pupils, including oral screening, dental education, and treatment where needed.

The Foundation said the intervention was aimed at catching dental problems early and instilling good oral hygiene habits in children.

Poor oral health, health experts note, can affect school attendance, nutrition, and overall wellbeing.

“Otumfuo Smiles Dental Outreach — Building brighter futures through healthy smiles,” the Foundation stated, underscoring the programme’s goal of combining healthcare with education.

The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, set up by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, runs health, education, and community development projects across Asanteman and beyond.

The ‘Smiles’ outreach has previously visited several districts, providing dental services to underserved communities where access to oral healthcare is limited.

Officials say the Sekyere East exercise is part of broader efforts to reduce the burden of preventable dental diseases among schoolchildren in rural Ghana.
