The Nkwanta District Police Command has commenced investigations into the murder of 36-year-old Thomas Adon, who was shot and killed at Keri in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region on June 8, 2026.

According to a police statement, a Joint Police-Military Team responded to reports of the shooting and found the deceased lying in a pool of blood with multiple suspected gunshot wounds.

A search of the scene led to the recovery of a piece of wood, fifteen 15 spent cartridges, and five live BB and AA cartridges. The items have been secured as exhibits for forensic analysis.

The body of Mr Adon has been conveyed to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Mortuary in Nkwanta for preservation and post-mortem examination.

Police say investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible for the killing.

The Joint Security Team also engaged chiefs, elders, and family members of the deceased, expressing condolences and assuring them of a thorough, impartial, and professional investigation.

Residents have been urged to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and refrain from acts of reprisal that could undermine peace and security in the area.

“The Nkwanta Joint Security Team remains committed to ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice and encourages the public to provide any credible information that may assist the ongoing investigations,” the police statement added.

No arrests have been made yet as investigations continue.
