Nyinahini Catholic SHS Teacher, Student Arrested After Viral Fight Video Sparks Outrage
A teacher and a student of Nyinahini Catholic SHS have been arrested after a viral video showed them exchanging blows in what appears to be a physical altercation.
According to the GES, the teacher was arrested first after the video circulated online.
The student involved was later picked up as investigations continued.
Both have since undergone medical examination to assess any injuries sustained during the incident.
The Regional Education Directorate has launched an immediate investigation into the matter.
The PRO of the GES, Daniel Fenyi, say a full report will be submitted to GES Headquarters once the inquiry is complete.
The viral footage, which sparked widespread condemnation on social media, shows the teacher and the student in a physical confrontation, raising concerns about discipline and teacher-student relations in schools.
Education authorities say disciplinary action will follow, depending on the investigation’s findings.
GES management is yet to disclose the identities of those involved as the case remains under review.
The incident has reignited debate on discipline, corporal punishment policies, and mechanisms for resolving conflicts between teachers and students without resorting to violence.
