Africa Must Follow Germany’s Steps to Development- Asantehene

The Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has asserted that Germany’s pathway to development is a suitable blueprint for Africa’s rise to economic development.

The King is of the view that industralisation can transform the fortunes of the continent overnight just like in Germany after World War II.

His Majesty therefore proposed technical assistance from Germany.

“I still believe we (Ghana) have to benefit from the technical expertise of Germany. Looking at how after the war Germany was built, I believe African countries can follow that guideline.

“Industrialization in agriculture is one of the things we can benefit from the technical side of education that you have. I still believe we should be looking at that. In technical education, we are still churning out products with book knowledge,” Otumfuo said during a farewell visit by the German Ambassador to Ghana, HE Daniel Krull on July 9, 2025.

Otumfuo further expressed satisfaction with the performance of the envoy. His Majesty disclosed that HE Krull won his admiration through his advocacy and forthrightness over Ghana’s national issues.

“During your duty tour, Ghana and Germany have come closer together…I believe you’ve done your best. Your name is a household name. Everybody knows the German ambassador.”

The Asantehene noted that his doors would forever remain open to him.

“Manhyia will always welcome you and my university will always welcome you. Continue to be an advocate for Ghana.”
