Don’t Make Unauthorised Payments Under Any Circumstance; MFA to Public

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has cautioned the general public against making unauthorised payments.
In a statement, it warned against relying on unverified information and engaging with unauthorised agents or intermediaries in matters relating to the Ministry.
Accordingly, it said individuals seeking consular or other services which are provided by the Ministry should deal directly with designated officers at the Ministry or its accredited Missions abroad.
“Do NOT make payment to unauthorised individuals under any circumstance,” it said, encouraging the public to report any suspicious activities or demands for extra payment immediately to the Ministry through official contact channels.
It noted that the Attestation/Legalisation of Documents costs Ghc200.00 and takes five working days; Travel Certificate costs Ghc200.00 and takes two to three working days; and Laissez-Passer costs Ghc200.00 and takes two to three working days.
Meanwhile, it warned against the submission of forged or fraudulent documents, noting that it constitutes a criminal offence and will be reported to the appropriate law enforcement authorities for further action.
