Opemsuo Health Fair: Participants Hail Exercise

Participants in the health fair organised by Opemsuo Radio in honour of the 25th Enstoolment Anniversary of the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II have hailed the Monarch and the media organization for the laudable exercise.

These participants who say they heard about it through the official mouthpiece of the Manhyia Palace- a subsidiary of the Ashanti Broadcasting Corporation (ABC)- expressed their elation.

Speaking to opemsuo.com Madam Alice Addae who had come to the venue with her teenage daughter for eye, genotype, blood typing, Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) examinations, retro screening, sugar, Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure and malaria tests blessed the King.

She said the exercise had afforded her the chance to get to know her genotype and blood test at no cost at all.

The loyal Opemsuo Radio listener disclosed she has already been diagnosed with high blood pressure and diabetes and looked forward to getting some medications and medical advice to help her at the health fair.

“I’m always glued to my radio. My dial is always at Opemsuo Radio so I had been conversant with the exercise. I came for the breast screening last year. I am here to test and get all the requisite medications.”

Blessing the King, she stated, “Otumfuo has done a lot for us. Look at the huge numbers here. Everyone will receive medical attention at no cost at all. God bless the King. He will continue to progress in this life.”

A middle-aged participant who came with her mother- a partially visually impaired octogenarian- said she used to go for eye tests but stopped for reasons she didn’t disclose.

She saw the announced event as an appropriate opportunity to revisit her old tradition which she is no longer able to go by.

“I heard the advocacy through the radio. I told my mother and here we are today… I don’t know my blood type and that of my eye has been a while now. I used to visit an eye clinic but I no longer go. We are grateful to Otumfuo.”

Meanwhile, she commended Opemsuo Radio for a good work done.

“Opemsuo Radio has done a great job in advocating it because we heard it through your media.”

The exercise is being undertaken in collaboration with partners including the Methodist Hospital, Tonylin Healthcare Consult, Danny’s Pharmacy, Frankel Foundation and Willingway Foundation.

The free medical screening for listeners and the public is being organized as part of the 25th anniversary of the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Radio Station’s 4th anniversary.

The exercise is an advantage and opportunity for first-timers to become conversant with their blood type and group as well as give participants free access to medical advice and medication.

Mr Fuseini Issah, Opemsuo Radio’s Programme Manager told opemsuo.com, that the exercise is aimed at giving back to the media organisation’s cherished market share.

“Opemsuo Radio is the organiser of this exercise. We (Opemsuo Radio) are celebrating our fourth anniversary as well as the King’s 25th anniversary on the Golden Stool so we deemed it necessary to provide free healthcare services to the community and our listeners. This is how we got in touch with some healthcare agencies to assist us.”
