Mpasaaso No. 2 Queen Invokes Great Oath to Affirm Royal Status
The Queen of Mpasaaso No. 2, Nana Amoakowaa Gyampa, has invoked the Great Oath to defend herself against doubts cast on her royal status.
The Great Oath was invoked during a Kumasi Traditional Council meeting presided over by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Prior to that, she affirmed that she was of royal lineage.
Background
The issue arose following an order by the Asantehene for the queen to select a royal to occupy the vacant male stool, following the destoolment of Nana Amofa Twumasi.
A royal who identified herself as Yaa Dufie halted the process by challenging the queen’s royal lineage.
She supported her claim with the invocation of the Great Oath.
