NPP Demands Arrest of NDC Vice Chairman, 1 Other Over Murder Threats

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on the Inspector General of police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to arrest the 1st National Vice Chairman of the NDC, Chief Sofo Azorka, and the Abuakwa North Constituency Communication Officer, Alhaji Abdul Wahab Amadu.

It comes after the two were separately captured on camera, threatening the lives of the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin; the National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye; and Hon. Frank Annor Dompreh.

In another video, Azorka and some men with him attempted to physically assault the 3rd National Vice Chairman of the NPP, Alhaji Osman Masawudu.

In a statement, the opposition party said the “recklessness of the actions” of the two must be properly investigated and punished.

Condemning the incidents, it added that formal complaints would be lodged with the Ghana Police Service.

“Such violent conduct by no means a person than a National Officer of the ruling party and a constituency officer diminishes the gains of our democracy and has the potential to create further insecurity in the country in the face of Ghana’s recent decline in the Global Peace Index Ranking.”
