Mahama Calls for Unified Action on Healthcare at Africa Forward Summit

President John Dramani Mahama has called for stronger unity, decisive action, and deeper collaboration across Africa to transform the continent’s healthcare systems.

Speaking as co-chair of a high-level session on rethinking health at the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, President Mahama stressed that improving health outcomes requires moving beyond dialogue to concrete implementation.

He urged African leaders and stakeholders to adopt a unified framework that can guide coordinated action on the continent’s pressing healthcare challenges.

The President emphasized that the “Accra Reset” agenda is not about isolationism, but about strengthening partnerships to deliver tangible results for citizens.

He cautioned against fragmentation and called for collective effort to address gaps in financing, infrastructure, and service delivery across African health systems.

President Mahama challenged participants to translate commitments into practical measures that would expand access, improve quality, and build more resilient health systems capable of withstanding future shocks.

The session formed part of broader discussions at the summit, co-hosted by Kenyan President William Ruto and French President Emmanuel Macron, aimed at shaping Africa’s development trajectory in energy, finance, and health.
