Assessing the Origins of the Asante Nation and The Genealogical Structure of the Kings and Queen Mothers (From The 17th – 21st Century)”.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Media and Research Coordinator of APC, Mr. Sylvester Kwame Osei, expressed optimism that the lecture will deepen people’s understanding of the role of past Asante traditional rulers in shaping Ghana’s government systems. “The current Asantehene continues to inspire political leadership and innovation in the areas of education, job creation, and cultural preservation. The lecture will address the critical issue of the relevance of chieftaincy in the modern state”. He added that “the lecture will benefit Ghanaians and the diaspora community”

The 6th Opemsuo Lectures is set to draw an audience of more than 10,000 people both in-person and online. The lecture is an annual lecture event organized by Asante Professionals Club. The lecture falls in line with APC’s Strategic Objective 1 of promoting and developing arts and culture. The event seeks to create a unique platform for professionals and traditional rulers to deliberate on Asante development and culture.

The Asante Professionals Club is a professional organization of individuals who contribute ideas and resources to the development of Asanteman. Established in 2015, the Club undertakes projects and programs in line with Otumfuo’s development agenda of Asanteman. In April 2019, Asantehene launched a $100 million development fund to implement a 10-year Development Plan for Asanteman, an initiative strongly championed by the Asante Professionals Club. APC has branches in Ghana, USA, and UK.

The 6th Opemsuo Lectures will be live on Asante Professionals Club Facebook page.
