Asantehene Urges Govt to Prioritise and Expedite KNUST Teaching Hospital Completion

The Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has urged the government to make it a point to complete the institution’s teaching hospital.

The Asantehene indicated that the facility, once completed will augment the congested Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and aid in the training of medical and Allied health students of KNUST.

“My KNUST teaching hospital is still not completed even though there has been tremendous progress and I’m passionate about this project because of the peculiar purpose it is meant to serve.

“When finished, it will complement the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in the training of medical and Allied health students of KNUST,” Otumfuo told Vice President Nana Jane Opoku-Agyemang on June 28, 2025.

Otumfuo encouraged her to impress on His Excellency the President to prioritize the “essential” project and expedite its completion.

In reaction, the Vice President assured that the needed steps would be taken.

“That cannot be more important and I want to assure you that I will take this concern to the President and I have no doubt that he will take the right steps for you.”
