‘You Hold No Mere Position’ – Otumfuo Tells Agonahene

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has counselled Obiri Komfo Anokye Boakye II, Agonahene, on the strategic and crucial nature of the stool to Asanteman.

Granting his request to swear an oath of allegiance, His Majesty stated that the stool was no ordinary stool.

“You will now oversee the rules that hold together the 77 laws of Asanteman… I have the soul of Asanteman, and I have it because you {Komfo Anokye} gave it to me. You hold a crucial position which should not be trivialised,” he said.

Otumfuo also cautioned him to be circumspect in his dealings.

“The position is a luxury. You are Komfo Anokye, and you cannot involve yourself in everything, nor can you move about freely at will.”

Training
His Majesty further committed to personally taking him through the requisite lessons and training to equip him for his mandate.

Once completed, His Majesty stated that Asanteman will observe its first Odwira festival in decades.

“Once you are fully equipped with the needed power, together with your mother, Agonahemaa, we will observe Odwira. That will be one of your first assignments.”

To Agonahemaa Nana Acheampomaa Ntansa Yiadom II, His Majesty charged her to back him with her spirit.

Taking his oath, Obiri Komfo Anokye Boakye II, the Agonahene, committed to being at the beck and call of the Occupant of the Golden Stool.

He succeeds Nana Frimpong Anokye Ababio, who passed away in 2022.
