The Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has announced a special thank you package for the Central and Volta Regions where he garnered the highest votes in the recent Presidential Primary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He plans to construct an ethanol plant for each of the two regions as an expression of his appreciation for their massive support. The idea is to create employment.
These plants, he said, would produce 200,000 litres of ethanol each day and he intends to put these factories up concurrently next year.
“I called you here [to this party] to thank the delegates in the Volta Region for the wonderful performance. Again, I also take this opportunity to thank my own region, Central Region,” he is quoted as saying by Graphic Online during an engagement with his Campaign Coordinators on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
He said he had secured a 10,000-acre land in the Volta Region already but needed 12,500-acre land for it.
Ken came up against the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who subsequently won, the former Minister for Agriculture, Dr Osei Akoto and Francis Addai-Nimoh in the Primary.
In the Central Region, he won by 10,828 votes while he garnered 5,850 votes in the Volta Region.
