It’s a Win For All; Asantehene’s Son on Ghana School of Law SRC Prez Election

Nana Opoku Ware, a son of the Monarch of the Asante Kingdom has described his victory in the Ghana School of Law (GSL) Students Representative Council Presidential (SRC) election as a collective win.

Addressing students following his election to succeed Daniel Otting Awuah on April 30, he indicated that he had decoded the motivation behind the overwhelming victory and vowed to deliver the reform the students so desired.

“After months of a fierce friendly fight, the campaign has finally ended. We are back together as one family on a scary journey to the Bar. From the Kumasi Campus to the GIMPA campus to the Makola campus to the UPSA campus, our votes and voyage have shown a desire for something different and so shall we witness.”

According to him, the victory is not just for him but all the entire student body.

“Today’s victory is not just for Nana Opoku Ware but the student body as a whole.”

Congratulating his contenders, the King’s son urged all to support his vision to fight for the cause of students.

“Let us all come together for a common good…We are all and will always be one family.”

He also encouraged all celebrants to be measured in their jubilation while expressing gratitude to the electorates.

“I thank each and everybody who voted for me.”

In a statement, the outgoing President extended heartfelt congratulations to the president-elect of The Ghana School of Law SRC.

“I am confident that you will uphold it with wisdom, vision, and strength. As I pass the baton soon, I do so with pride, knowing our Union is in equally capable hands.”

He reminded all elected executives to uphold classroom excellence as they lead the student body.

“Politics and leadership are meaningful, but without success in the classroom, they lose their foundation. You do not get any extra academic marks for becoming an elected executive. I urge you all—to lead, serve, but most importantly, study NOW and attain your 6/6.”

Per provisional results, Nana Opoku Ware won about 668 votes (35.93%) of 1,859 total votes cast.

His contenders, including Festus Matey, garnered 489 votes (26.30%); Obiri-Adjei, 377 votes (20.28%); Benjamin, 276 votes (14.85%); and Emmanuella, 49 (2.64%).
