I Wish Otumfuo Lives to 120 Years — Ejisuhemaa

The Paramount Queen of the Ejisu Traditional Area, Nana Yaa Asantewaa II, has expressed her deepest wish for Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, to live to 120 years.
This wish was shared publicly on the occasion of the 76th birthday of Otumfuo on May 6, 2026.
In a tribute to the King of the Asante Kingdom, the Ejisuhemaa thanked God for the life and leadership of the Overlord of Asanteman, describing him as a wise and distinguished figure of the era.
“I give thanks to God for the life of the Overlord of the Asante Kingdom, the wise and distinguished leader of our time,” she said.
“My sincere prayer is for His Majesty to be granted long life, good health, and strength, that he may attain 120 years in service to Asanteman and to Ghana.”
Nana Yaa Asantewaa II further praised Otumfuo’s transformative reign, noting that it has brought both dignity and modernity to the chieftaincy institution.
She highlighted how His Majesty has consistently upheld the revered role of the Queen with respect and honour, an act that has earned widespread admiration across Asanteman.
“Through his reign, the chieftaincy institution has been restored to its former prestige while being adapted to meet the demands of the modern age,” she said.
“His reverence for Queens has brought us immense pride and continues to inspire us.”
Born on May 6, 1950, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II ascended the Golden Stool in April 1999 and has since been credited with strengthening the cultural authority of the Asante Kingdom while promoting development in education, healthcare, and peacebuilding.
His Majesty’s leadership has also fostered unity and stability, extending his influence beyond Asanteman to the national and international stage.
The Ejisuhemaa joined traditional rulers and citizens across Asanteman in offering prayers for the King’s continued health, strength, and enduring legacy as he begins another year of service.
