I Will Recontest in NPP Presidential Primaries- Ken Agyapong

Leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has announced plans to contest for the flagbearership position for the second time.

The former lawmaker was unsuccessful in the last presidential primaries of the party, coming second after Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who subsequently lost in the general election.

At a presser on April 30, he announced his ambition to give it a try once more.

“We will also regroup ourselves. At the appropriate time, whatever we need to do to help the party and enhance my chances will be done. I am taking this opportunity to tell you that I am going to contest. I will contest. Whatever they want to do they can do. Nobody can stop me from contesting.”

He believes he has paid his dues to the NPP, warranting his consideration for the presidency.

This message was directed at elements within the party whom he says have constantly targeted him, seeking to draw negative narratives about his personality to court public dissatisfaction towards him.

“It’s been a while since we started building the party. New entrants who don’t know anything about its history are doing these things. I’m glad the General Secretary has announced a school for such to learn the history of the party.”
