EC Denies Knowledge Of Nandom Officer’s Affiliation Declaration

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana says it has not received any complaint- official or unofficial- about one of their official’s open declaration of support for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Nandom.

The Deputy Chairman of the Commission in charge of Corporate Services, Dr Bossman Asare emphasized that no petition has been served on the Commission in relation to such a subject during an interview on Eyewitness News monitored by opemsuo.com.

“Nothing like that has come to our attention. Nobody has petitioned us about that. Nothing like that came up at IPAC.”

Mr Bossman posited that a matter as sensitive as that would have reached the Commission by now had it been true. Nonetheless, he said the case would be investigated if it came before them.

“If it happened we would look at the evidence available based on the allegation, invite the officer.”

It was reported that the Municipal Electoral Officer for Nandom, Isaac Darko, publicly declared his support for the NPP during the party’s parliamentary primary in the Nandom Constituency on January 27.
