Govt Releases Funds to Settle Part of Outstanding Scholarship Arrears

The Ghana Scholarships Authority has announced the release of funds to settle part of the outstanding scholarship arrears owed to foreign tertiary institutions.

The released fund is the first quarter allocations to the Authority.

It covers arrears for scholarship beneficiaries studying in the United Kingdom and other countries.
“This intervention forms part of ongoing efforts by the Government to progressively address delays in the payment of stipends and tuition fees,” it said in a statement issued on April 16, 2026.

It added, “The Authority acknowledges the concerns of our sponsored students and deeply regrets the inconvenience caused by these delays. Government remains fully committed to the welfare of Ghanaian students abroad.”

The Authority furthered that it was working diligently with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that these payments are processed promptly and that such delays are minimised going forward.

It also encouraged beneficiaries to remain calm and continue with their academic activities as it worked assiduously to resolve all outstanding obligations.

“The Ghana Scholarships Authority appreciates the patience and cooperation of all affected students during this period and assures them of its unwavering support.”
