GoldBod Opens Licence Renewal Process for Gold Buyers

The Ghana Gold Board has announced that the renewal process for gold-buying licences due to expire within the next three months has opened.
It took effect on Monday, May 25, 2026, it said in a statement.

All renewal applications must be submitted exclusively through the GoldBod online licensing portal at www.goldbod.gov.gh/licensing/, the Board directed.

As part of the assessment, applicants will be required to meet specific eligibility requirements, including minimum trading volume thresholds over the preceding 12 months.

T1 licence holders must show a minimum trading volume of 2 kilograms, while T2 licence holders are required to meet a 5-kilogram threshold.

Meanwhile, Self-Finance Aggregator licence holders must demonstrate a minimum trading volume of one metric tonne within the same period.

Applicants must also be in full compliance with the terms and conditions of their existing licences and must not have breached any regulatory or licensing obligations.

GoldBod said licence holders who submit a renewal application and pay the applicable fee may be permitted to continue trading pending the final determination of their application.

The Board added that it reserves the right to request additional information or documentation during the assessment process.

Licence holders have been advised to ensure timely compliance with the requirements to avoid disruption to their operations.
