Ghana School Feeding Programme Launches 2-Week Monitoring to Track Meals and Pupil Uptake

The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has launched a two-week nationwide monitoring exercise as part of efforts to sustain and improve the pro-poor feeding initiative across the country.
The exercise, which began on Monday, June 22, 2026, is deploying additional monitoring tools to provide GSFP with better data on what is happening on the ground and to shape future policy decisions.
Officials say the new tools go beyond checking the quantity and quality of meals prepared by caterers.
They will also determine the actual number of pupils who eat the food daily.
This, GSFP explained, is necessary to keep caterers accountable, as their performance will now be assessed based on the number of pupils who actually eat, rather than the number of learners marked present in the school register.
The monitoring is expected to give the Programme clearer insight into meal delivery, reduce leakages, and ensure that funds allocated reach the intended beneficiaries.
GSFP says the data gathered will directly inform steps to sustain and strengthen the feeding programme for vulnerable pupils.
