Ghana Records 1 New Mpox Case as Total Rises to 1,071

The Ghana Health Service has confirmed one new case of mpox, bringing the country’s total confirmed infections to 1,071 as of May 14, 2026.

In its latest update, the Service reminded the public that mpox spreads mainly through close contact with someone who has the infection.

Health officials urged Ghanaians to protect themselves and others by maintaining good hygiene and seeking medical care early if symptoms appear.

Symptoms to watch for include fever, rash, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, chills, and tiredness.

The Service advised anyone experiencing these signs to visit the nearest health facility immediately.

Mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, causes a flu-like illness followed by a rash.

While most cases are mild, health authorities say early detection and isolation help limit spread.

The GHS says it continues to monitor the outbreak and has called on the public to remain vigilant and follow preventive measures.
