Ghana Eyes Auto, Agro-Processing Deals as Trade Minister Engages Morocco

Ghana is seeking deeper investment and trade partnerships with Morocco in the automobile and agro-processing sectors as Trade Minister Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare begins a three-day working visit to the North African country.
During high-level talks with Hon. Karim Zidane, Morocco’s Minister of Investments, Convergence and Public Policy Evaluation, Hon. Ofosu-Adjare underscored Ghana’s commitment to closer economic ties, singling out automobile assembly and agro-processing as priority areas for collaboration.
Morocco has emerged as a major auto manufacturing hub in Africa, while Ghana is positioning itself as a West African centre for vehicle assembly under its Automotive Development Policy.
Both countries also have strong agricultural bases, creating scope for value addition and export.
The Minister commended Morocco’s role in advancing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and called for the removal of non-tariff barriers to ensure smoother trade flows.
“AfCFTA gives us the framework. Now we must remove the roadblocks to make trade work for our businesses,” she said.
Hon. Ofosu-Adjare used the engagements to market Ghana’s flagship 24-Hour Economy policy as a catalyst for industrial growth and investor attraction.
She also briefed Moroccan officials on Ghana’s revised GIPC investment law, which offers enhanced incentives and a more enabling environment for foreign investors.
The strategic visit, which started on Monday, May 4, 2026, is aimed at strengthening bilateral trade relations and unlocking new investment opportunities between the two nations.
