Gender Ministry Mourns Pupils Killed in Assin Edubiase Road Crash

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has expressed profound sadness over a tragic road accident at Assin Edubiase in the Central Region involving pupils of Alice Elites Academy, which claimed the lives of two children and left several others injured.
In a statement issued today, the Ministry extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the school community and all those affected by the loss.
It also wished the injured pupils a speedy and full recovery, describing the death of young children under such circumstances as deeply distressing.
The Ministry commended the Ghana Police Service, health personnel, emergency responders, community members and all individuals whose prompt and selfless actions aided in the rescue, care and treatment of the affected children.
It noted that investigations by the Ghana Police Service into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing and pledged full support for efforts to establish the facts.
The Ministry underscored the importance of accountability, particularly where negligence or breaches of safety obligations may be identified, and stressed that the safety and protection of children must remain a paramount priority for all institutions and individuals entrusted with their care.
Recognising the emotional and psychological impact of the incident on the pupils, their families and the wider school community, the government said it will work through Regional and District Social Welfare Offices with relevant stakeholders to assess needs and facilitate appropriate psychosocial support interventions for all those affected.
“In this moment of grief, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection reaffirms its solidarity with the affected families and the entire school community,” the statement added.
