GAF Says Escort Convoy Attacked; 3 Civilians Dead, 7 Assailants Killed

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has reported an attack on one of its escort convoys in the Upper East Region.
The incident occurred on the morning of Monday, April 27, 2026, at Binduri while the convoy was travelling from Bawku to Bolgatanga, escorting about 140 civilians at the time, GAF said.
According to a statement, unknown assailants opened fire on the convoy. Three of the civilians being escorted were killed, and one was injured.
GAF personnel returned fire during which seven of the attackers were killed, the statement said.
“In pursuit, the military recovered a G3 automatic rifle, two loaded magazines of 20 rounds each, and 176 additional rounds of ammunition from a suspect who fled to a nearby mosque,” GAF stated.
Ten other suspects have been arrested and are assisting with investigations.
The Ghana Armed Forces cautioned the public against engaging the military or any security service during operations.
It also extended condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
