GACL Launches Hotline for Passengers to Report Airport Extortion

The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has set up a dedicated hotline for reporting any acts of extortion.
In a statement, it said it remained committed to fighting extortion at the country’s airports and has rolled out the dedicated hotline to protect passengers.
The company noted that it holds regular stakeholder engagements with all agencies operating in the terminals, and those sessions have led to measurable improvements recently.
The number is displayed on Flight Information Display Screens and at key locations across the terminal for easy access.
Passengers are urged to report incidents of extortion, including the person’s name and agency, to the dedicated line: 0542175636 via call, text, or WhatsApp.
“This will help us take appropriate action,” GACL stated in the notice.
Extortion at airport terminals has been a recurring concern for travellers and authorities. GACL’s move adds a direct reporting channel to complement the stakeholder engagements already underway with airport agencies.
