Editorial: Maxwell Konadu ‘Must’ Complement The Effort Of Management

Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko SC started their journey in the 2020/21 season of the Ghana Premier League against Techiman Eleven Wonders last Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

And obviously, the supporters’ expectations were not met-leaving most of them somehow disappointed following a dull performance from the lads.

Though supporters are banned from the stadium, most of them were fixed to their Televisions to watch how the new recruits together with the old lads will conjoin forces to produce stately performance to start the season on a brighter note.

Surprisingly, on the day, the Fabulous side failed to apply the brakes on Techiman Eleven Wonders who in most occasions were alluring to watch than Kotoko.

Apart from Captain and goalkeeper Felix Annan who fabulously produced a vintage performance to shoulder Kotoko from defeat, none of the players reached fashioned out spectacularly.

There is an obvious peaceful atmosphere in the Porcupine world following the unparalleled initiatives by the Club’s Chief Executive Officer, Nana Yaw Amponsah.

Nana Yaw Amponsah, in his few months with the club, has brought some tremendous transformations which of course has resuscitated people’s love to support the club.

Under the watch of the former FIFA Player Intermediary, Kotoko has been overwhelmed by numerous partnerships or sponsorships-Hisense, Adonko Next Level energy drink, Ceedar Point Chemist, Star Life Assurance, Ceek, Erreà, and VEO.

Regardless of Nana Yaw Amponsah’s led administration astronomical off the pitch performance, there is something unique that can top up his work to make the joy full.

And that is on the pitch performance. This aspect is so pivotal that it can make and unmake any administration.

The supporters expectations have surged following the acquisition of Razak Abalora, Mubarik Yussif, Evans Adomako, Andrews Kwadwo Appau, Latif Anabila, Emmanuel Kayekeh, Muniru Sulley and Fabio Gama.

As the league season has started, Coach Maxwell Konadu again must show his technical ingenuity to make the seeming glittering journey complete.

He must tune the players to be ruthless to devour. The inherent revolution of Kotoko must be followed suit with a soothing display on the field.

The Porcupine Warriors should do well to continue from where they left off before the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Konadu’s masterly crafted tactical variations should once again pop up as all eyes are currently fixed on him to glitter.

Kotoko has got another mountainous task to surmount in their second league match with Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park. Another dreadfully slippery grounds the Porcupines are yet to pick a win against Chelsea.

There is a lot at stake and Coach Maxwell Konadu and charges must complement the work of the Management.

With the likes of Felix Annan, Christopher Nettey, Imoro Ibrahim, Abdul-ganiu Ismael, Habib Mohammed, Mubarik Yussif, Mudasiru Salifu, Muniru Suley, Emmanuel Kayekeh, Emmanuel Gyamfi, Augustine Okrah, Kwame Poku, William Opoku Mensah, Latif Anabila, Godfred Asiamah and others, Kotoko should produce nothing short of the best performance.
