Ghana’s Inaki Williams Appointed Athletic Bilbao Captain

Ghana international Inaki Williams has been named the captain of the playing body of Athletic Club.

He was appointed to step into the role following Oscar De Marcos’ retirement after 16 years spent with the club.

The Black Stars player officially received the captain armband after their last game to mark the end of the season with his new role set to begin next season.

In a post on X formerly Twitter, Bilbao expressed its confidence in the new captain.

“At your orders… Captain Kwaku! Congratulations, @Williaaams45! We know you’ll lead our Lions with passion and pride.”

The winger contributed six goals and eight assists in 35 league appearances for Athletic Bilbao in the just-ended season and was named the Sporty LaLiga’s Africa’s Most Valuable Player for the second time in a row.
