Court Remands Woman over Alleged Abduction

A circuit court has remanded a 36-year-old woman for allegedly abducting a girl and attempting to flee with her to Kenya.

The suspect, Regina Mamle Tawiah, who was arraigned before the Odumase-Krobo circuit court on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, pleaded not guilty.

She was remanded into police custody to reappear on May 5, 2026, for a case management conference.

Alleged Abduction
The victim was reportedly abducted on April 19, 2026, at Agormanya Zongo in the Odumase-Krobo district.

Following a complaint by the victim’s father, the police got to work and, with the assistance of the BNI, arrested the suspect the next day at the Accra International Airport while en route to Kenya.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was trying to send the victim to Kenya. Meanwhile, the victim has been reunited with her father,” a police statement reported.

The police, in their statement, entreated the general public to remain vigilant at all times and promptly report any suspicious persons or behaviour to the police.
