{Pictures} GAF Embarks on Anti-galamsey Surgical Operations

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has undertaken what it calls Anti-galamsey surgical operation in three Commands.

The operation focused on forest reserves and rivers within the Northern Command, Central Command and Southern Command.

This was announced by the Minister for Defence, Dr Omane Boamah.

In the Northern Command, the team combed Bole and Black Volta Basin; Nkawie and Mankranso Forest Reserves in the Central Command; and Jerusalem, Subri Forest Reserve in the Southern Command.

According to the Minister, a number of excavators and related equipment were seized while shelters for illegal miners in forest reserves were destroyed.
