Coach Who Assaulted Female Referee Dismissed

The Northern Regional Football Association and the District Football Association have relieved Coach of Tiyumbu Ladies, Iddrisu Suweiru Napari of all positions.

This was announced by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in a press statement on June 19.

It comes after he attacked and injured a centre referee during a match between Division 1B side Tiyumba Ladies and Soccer Missionary Ladies at Game Centre 3 near the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Saturday.

The coach is reported to have invaded the pitch in the 38th minute to assault the referee and fled immediately after that.

He was arrested after turning himself in to the police on Monday.

He is also reported to have apologized to his victim, Mohammed Sakina Nasara who has since been discharged from the hospital.

“Before his arrest, ‘Coach Kubli’ rendered an apology to his victim, her family and the entire football fraternity for his immature conduct.”

In the press statement, the GFA said the Coach has been relieved of all positions he held in the regional and District FA Committees.

“The Northern Region FA and the District FA have relieved Coach Napari from all positions he held on their committees.”

He was Chairman of the Sanagrigu Municipal FA, according to reports.
