Chelsea Gave Us a Much Tougher Game Than Arsenal – Antoine Semenyo

Antoine Semenyo says Chelsea pushed Manchester City to the limit despite his decisive goal in the 2025/26 FA Cup final.

The English-born Ghanaian forward scored the only goal of the game in the 72nd minute with a superb back-heel finish to secure a 1-0 victory for Manchester City over Chelsea at Wembley Stadium.

Speaking after the match, the versatile attacker was full of praise for the fighting spirit shown by their opponents.

“I won’t lie, Chelsea gave us a much tougher game than Arsenal did in the Carabao Cup final. Their intensity, the pressure, the way they kept fighting until the end… it was completely different.”

“There were moments today where we genuinely struggled to control the game because Chelsea kept coming at us again and again. They made it difficult for us,” he added.

The hard-fought win handed Manchester City their eighth FA Cup title. Semenyo, who joined City mid-season from Bournemouth, has been an outstanding signing for Pep Guardiola, winning his second major trophy after the EFL Cup.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed a superb season, registering 20 goals and 6 assists across all competitions, making him Ghana’s most in-form player ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
