Mahama Gifts UDS Football Team Half a Million Cedis
President John Dramani Mahama has rewarded the University for Development Studies (UDS) football team with GHC500,000 after shining in the FISU World University Games in China.
The amount was presented at the Jubilee House on October 7, 2025, when the team paid a courtesy call to present their trophy to the head of state.
Presenting it, Mahama said it was a reward for the good work done.
“The presidency is also pleased to present to you something. We won’t let you go empty-handed – GHC500,000. It’s a reward to the team for the good done.”
In a speech, he encouraged them to inspire others with the victory.
“You’ve brought glory to Ghana and renewed the faith in the power of young people, education and sports to transform lives. Carry this victory with humility. Let it inspire others to dream boldly and work hard.”
The team, after their remarkable performance in China, emerged winners of the tournament after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over defending champions Paulista University of Brazil.
