Ghana Courts German Support To Tackle Youth Unemployment Through TVET

The government is banking on a stronger partnership with Germany to equip Ghanaian youth with practical, industry-ready skills as part of efforts to tackle unemployment.
This came to light when the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, held bilateral talks with the German Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Frederik Landshöft, in Accra.
At the centre of the discussions was Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) – which the Minister described as critical to preparing young people for the evolving labour market.
Hon. Iddrisu said strategic international partnerships, particularly with Germany, which has a globally acclaimed TVET model, are key to advancing Ghana’s education agenda, improving learning outcomes and linking skills training directly to industry needs.
For his part, Ambassador Landshöft reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s skills development agenda.
According to the Ministry, the meeting underscored Ghana’s shift towards skills-based education as a driver for employability and national development, with both countries exploring concrete initiatives to build a skilled and productive workforce.
