Bawumia Commiserates With Asante Mampong Council

Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia took a detour to the Mampong Traditional Council to commiserate with it over the passing of the Paramount Chief, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.

The revered traditional leader passed away immediately after the Easter festivities; however, the sad news was officially announced to the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on April 28.

After his ‘Thank You’ tour in the Ashanti Region, the former Vice President passed by the Palace of the occupant of the Silver Stool to sympathise with the Council.

He was in the company of former Defence Minister, Dominic Aduna Bingab Nitiwul, former Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, and other officials of the opposition New Patriotic Party.

Welcoming them were Nana Agyakoma Difie II, Mamponghemaa, Nana Yaa Asantewaa II, Ejisuhemaa, Nana Adwoa Por Dwamena, Bechemhemaa and other traditional rulers within the council.

“This morning, I visited the Palace of the occupant of the Silver Stool at Asante Mampong together with the team on the Thank You Tour, to commiserate with Nana Agyakoma Difie II, Queenmother of Mampong and the chiefs and people of Mampong on the unfortunate passing of the late Paramount Chief, Daasebre Nana Osei Bonsu II.”

Dr Bawumia also paid a visit to the bereaved wife to express his “deepest” condolence.
