Ashanti Regional Minister Announces Intensified Dredging to Prevent Flooding

The Ashanti Region is intensifying flood prevention efforts as dredging teams work across key communities to desilt drains and waterways ahead of the peak of the rainy season.
This was disclosed in a Facebook post by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, who said the exercise is being carried out in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.
According to the Minister, current operations are underway at Asabe in the Asokore Mampong Municipal, Anwiam and Anloga Junction in Oforikrom Municipal and Kaase in the Asokwa Municipal.
Dr Amoakohene noted that the interventions are aimed at preventing flooding and reducing its impact on communities during the rainy season.
He added that the exercise will continue throughout the week and will culminate on July 10 and 11, in line with the President’s declaration of a nationwide sanitation drive.
The Regional Minister further encouraged residents to play their part by keeping the environment clean and ensuring that drains remain free of waste.
“Together, we can build a cleaner, safer and more resilient Ashanti Region,” he stated.
