Asantehene Departs for the Netherlands and Canada on Wednesday

The Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will depart Ghana for the Netherlands and Canada on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, for a working visit.
Otumfuo announced the trip to the Asanteman Council on Monday, May 25, 2026, during an emergency meeting at the Manhyia Palace.
According to the announcement, His Majesty will begin the visit in the Netherlands before proceeding to Canada.
While the Asantehene is away, the Asante Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu III, will oversee the affairs of Asanteman.
Meanwhile, Kumasi has been designated to Nana Boadakye Yam Ababio, Nkwantakesehene.
Otumfuo urged individuals with cases pending before the Asanteman Council to remain calm, assuring them that all matters would be given the needed attention and handled promptly upon his return.
“Our proceedings will resume as soon as I return,” he said.
