Otumfuo Gives Nana Ayim Kumnipa III Authority Over Gyadam

Nana Ayim Kumnipa III has been officially installed as Gyadamhene and now has authority over the Gyadam Traditional Area as Paramount Chief.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, granted him the authority on May 25, 2026, after accepting his plea to swear the Great Oath.

Nana Ayim Kumnipa III subsequently took the oath.

Ahead of taking the oath, Otumfuo told the Council that the appointment was in the best interest of Asanteman.

“When a stool becomes vacant, it is up to the Queen to select a successor. However, in this case it took a different course,” Otumfuo said.

He added that the selection was divine and fulfilled the wish of the late traditional leader, who fought numerous court cases to protect the stool’s properties.

“On his death bed, he proclaimed that he needed an educated person to protect what he had fought for. He mentioned your name,” Otumfuo stated.

Otumfuo also charged the new chief to emulate his predecessor’s humility and to give due respect to both the Queen and the kingmakers.

“After you have taken the oath today, keep an eye on the town. Honour your predecessor with your leadership. Unite with the Queen and kingmakers to rule. Don’t ever forget your roots. If you do and become arrogant, you will fall to the ground. The stool will take care of you when you do the right thing,” he said.

Otumfuo further instructed the kingmakers and the Queen to offer Nana Ayim Kumnipa III the needed guidance and respect.

His Majesty urged them to live peacefully with him to ensure his rulership and the progress of the town.

Taking the sword, Nana Ayim Kumnipa III pledged his allegiance to Otumfuo and the Golden Stool.
