FDA Flags Oxytocin From Nine Manufacturers

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) in Ghana is recalling some Oxytocin Injections on the Ghanaian market.

The products are from eight foreign manufacturers and one local manufacturer.

According to the FDA, these products aren’t registered and therefore their safety, quality and efficacy cannot be guaranteed.

It discovered these products during its routine surveillance in health facilities including pharmacies.

The manufacturers of these products include Belco Pharma PVT ltd in China, AMROS pharma in Pakistan, Entrance Pharmaceuticals in Ghana, Anhui Honge Pharmaceutical Company in China, Jackson Laboratories PVT ltd in India and others.

The FDA has warned healthcare professionals to halt the use of the flagged products and return them to the Authority’s nearest office.

Meanwhile it said efforts are underway to arrest importers of these products.
