A/R: GRIDCo Resolving Technical Fault Causing Extensive Power Cut- ECG

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) says the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) is working around the clock to restore power to extensive parts of the Ashanti Region plunged into darkness.

In a notice issued on the afternoon of April 15, it said the power cut was due to a technical challenge from Gridco at Ridge Bulk Supply Point (BSP).

“The Electricity Company of Ghana wishes to inform our cherished customers and the general public in the Ashanti Region that the outage being experienced across parts of the Region today, Wednesday, 15th April, 2026, is a result of a technical challenge from Gridco at Ridge Bulk Supply Point (BSP).”

It assured residents of efforts to restore power while apologising for the inconvenience.

“ECG wishes to assure all affected customers that once GRIDCo rectifies the technical challenge, power will be restored. ECG regrets the inconvenience caused to the affected customers.”

Earlier, the ECG reported power outage in the Ashanti East Region, attributing it to the destruction of an HV cable.

The affected areas within this region included Ahwiaa, Buoho, Maase, Asenua, Aboaso, Bampenase, Akorem, Dote, Buokrom, Krofrom, Asawase, Kumaca and surrounding areas.
