A/R: GNFS Intensifies Fire Safety Campaigns to Prevent Outbreaks

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Ashanti Regional Command has intensified fire safety awareness and disaster prevention activities across the region as part of efforts to reduce fire outbreaks and protect lives and property.

The Command said the campaign is targeting communities, schools, churches, health facilities, businesses, and media platforms across the region.

Through initiatives including the #CatchThemYoung and #OneHouseOneFireExtinguisher campaigns, as well as community sensitisation programmes, fire officers educated the public on fire prevention, electrical and LPG safety, proper use of fire extinguishers, emergency reporting, and flood safety measures.

The engagements reached churches, schools, traders, artisans, health workers, and residents in areas including Boamang, Anloga, Konongo Odumasi, KNUST, Agogo, Offinso, Jacobu and other communities.

The Command also strengthened media engagements through radio and television programmes.

Officers used the platforms to share fire and flood safety tips, address misconceptions about firefighting operations, and encourage the public to support firefighters during emergencies.

As part of the drive, the Ashanti Regional Fire Commander, ACFO I Peter Tetteh, inspected the newly rebuilt China City Mall at Ahenema Kokoben to assess fire safety installations ahead of its reopening.

Other teams also conducted fire risk assessments and practical education sessions to enhance preparedness among businesses and institutions.

According to the Command, the series of activities reaffirms GNFS Ashanti Regional Command’s commitment to preventing fire outbreaks, promoting safety awareness, and protecting lives and property through continuous public education and collaboration.
