ECOWAS to Donate US$250,000 to Ghana for Flood Victims

The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, has pledged a donation of US$250,000.00, about GHS3.00 million, to support victims of the recent devastating floods in Ghana.

This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a press statement.

According to the Ministry, the decision by ECOWAS forms part of efforts to show solidarity with Ghana following the recent floods that have affected several communities.

“In the spirit of transparency and accountability, the Ministry wishes to announce that it has just been notified by ECOWAS that they have decided to donate US$250,000.00 to Ghana for victims of the recent devastating floods,” the statement read.

The Ministry further assured that the entire funds will be handed over to the appropriate channels as soon as it is received in government accounts.

The Government of Ghana has expressed its appreciation to ECOWAS for the gesture.

“The Government of Ghana conveys boundless appreciation to ECOWAS for their solidarity and true African compassion,” the Ministry added.
