A/R: Police Arrest 9 Suspected Armed Robbers, Kill 1 and Go After 1

The police in the Ashanti Region have arrested nine suspected armed robbers involved in a series of violent residential robberies within parts of the region.
The suspects are said to have conducted their illegal operations specifically in Abuakwa, Tanoso, Apatrapa, Dechembuoso, Appiadu and surrounding areas.
A rapid response from the joint patrol teams from the KNUST District and the Regional Operation gave a significant lead to the Police Intelligence Department (PID) who on Friday, 27th June 2025 at about 11:30 a.m. arrested the suspects.

“During the operation, one suspect sustained gunshot wounds in an exchange of fire with police and was later pronounced dead at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital by the attending medical officer,” the police said in a statement.
One other suspect identified as Yahaya Nuhu remains at large and is being actively pursued.
According to the police, investigations revealed that the suspects, armed with pump-action guns, pistols, and other offensive weapons, forcibly entered residential homes, held victims and their families hostage, and robbed them of large sums of money, electronic devices, and other valuable items.

In one instance, a victim was raped.
The arrested suspects are Kwadwo Kyei Baffour, 39, Bernard Owusu Ansah, 27, Joseph Oppong, 30, Kwadwo Konadu, 28, James Asare Boateng, 26, Emmanuel Asiedu, 27, Maxwell Gyimah, 30, Kelvin Adomako, 29 and Daniel Dwumor, 46.
These suspects were arrested in three batches.
The police retrieved multiple laptops, tablets, mobile phones, wristwatches, television sets, WiFi routers, three vehicles (Kia Morning and two Toyota Corollas – Reg. Nos. GX 4388-19 and AS 4777-22), face masks, Taurus pistol (ACC721513) with 4 rounds of 9mm ammunition, NP Cal 9x 19mm pistol (No. 11501418) and Jojelf pump action shotgun (No. 8782) with 33 rounds of ammunition from the first.

From the second batch was retrieved Bruni Mod 92 Auto Cal 8mm pistol (No. 180921), Ricol 15-0924 pump-action gun, Single-barrel shotgun and a converter Foocio Cal 4.5mm pistol.
“All arrested suspects are in police custody and will be arraigned before court shortly. Intensive efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspect, Yahaya Nuhu, who is currently on the run.”
