25-year-old Passenger Arrested with 207 Rounds of Assorted Ammunition

The Konongo Divisional police in the Ashanti Region have arrested a young man for the possession of 207 rounds of assorted ammunition.
The suspect was travelling on May 8 in an Accra-bound vehicle from Kumasi when his bag containing the ammunitions fell out near the Asankare Police barrier.
A search of the bag led to the discovery of two empty CZ magazines, one empty G3 magazine, two G3 magazines loaded with eight rounds of ammunition each, one round of BB ammunition, 35 rounds of CZ ammunition, and 42 rounds of AK-47 ammunition.
Also in the bag were one bulletproof vest, two black jackets, one green jacket, one crash helmet, one black pullover, one green pullover, two smocks with talisman embedded in them and two pairs of military trousers and boots.
A statement by the police recounted, “On the spot investigation revealed that the suspect was on board an Accra-bound passenger bus from Kumasi direction, when the luggage being the said backpack fell from the bus.
“The attention of the police who were busy on duty close by was drawn to it, and they apprehended the 25-year-old man who claimed ownership of the said backpack.”
The police have since commenced an investigation into the incident, and sooner than later, the suspect will be processed for court for the necessary action.
It warned criminals against all ill intents.
“The Ashanti South Regional Police Command wants to sound a note of caution to the general public, especially, criminals and would-be criminals that we have stepped up our operation to rid our community of all criminals and social misfits, and create a congenial atmosphere for the good people to go about their socio-economic activities without any fear or hindrance.”
The police further called on the general public to collaborate with the Police to fight crime by volunteering information to them on criminals and crimes.
