Your Departure Is an Immeasurable Loss; Kufuor on Daasebre Osei Bonsu Demise

President John Agyekum Kufuor grieving over the demise of the Paramount Chief of Asante Mampong Traditional Council, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, has called his departure an immeasurable loss.
The incident, he said, has left him in profound shock.
“To them {your family}, and to your countless friends in Ghana and across the world, your departure is an immeasurable loss,” he wrote in a tribute.
Remembering their last meeting together, he said he never anticipated it would be their last.
“The last time I saw you, you were full of vitality with your signature humour shining through as always. Yet, in the mystery of life, providence has not granted mankind the knowledge of when our earthly journey will end.”
“Now, we are left to mourn the loss of a dear soul who touched so many lives. I stand in solidarity with your widow, your daughter, your cherished family, and the people of Asante Mampong—the custodians of the SILVER STOOL.”
Daasebre’s demise was publicly announced in late April.
The unforeseen incident struck while Daasebre was acting as caretaker of the Asante Kingdom in the absence of the King, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
He was last seen publicly condemning tribal remarks by some members of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the nomination of a Municipal Chief Executive for the Area.
Born Oswald Gyimah-Kessie on December 31, 1939, the late Mamponghene was a lawyer and economist.
He also served with distinction as Registrar of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Daasebre ascended the stool in 1996, bringing his expertise to his royal duties.
