Akufo-Addo Reflects on Daasebre Osei Bonsu II’s Criticism of His Government

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his tribute recollected an uncomfortable encounter with Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, the late Asante Mamponghene, for which he now stands grateful.
This was during the then head of state’s meeting with the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs.
As the President of the House, Daasebre did not mince words in denouncing some actions and inactions of the government.
“He gave distinguished service to Asanteman, especially as President of the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs. I was particularly touched when, as President, I visited the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, where he heaped many commendations upon me and my government, for which I will always be grateful,” he recalled.
In his view, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II has played an exceptional part on that stage of the world.
He on that note extended his deepest condolence to the Queen, Nana Yaa Agyakoma Difi e II, the kingmakers, elders and people of Asante Mampong and Asanteman, his widow Lady Janet and the rest of the Bretuo royal family of Botase.
