Wontumi Claims Ghana Is Now Better Than London

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako known as Chairman Wontumi claims Ghana has outpaced London in development under the management of the Akufo-Addo-led administration.

He made the bold statement effortlessly during an interview on Asempa Radio on Thursday, December 7.

According to him, he realised the massive change in the country when he recently took a trip to the Greater Accra Region for a meeting with the National Executive Council (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

From his experience, he asserted that the country is developing and changing for the better.

“I got the opportunity to visit Accra for NEC and National Council. I used the Labone, Cantonment and East stretch. Ghana is changing. Now I can say Ghana is better than London. The storey buildings and others attest we are developing the country. The country is changing {and} it’s changing for good.”

To prove this, he said, he will undertake a media tour in the country’s capital.

Further, he urged Ghanaians to extend the administration of the NPP government with Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who has been elected flagbearer for the upcoming election to ensure continuity in the development.

“That is why people like us are imploring the country to opt for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to continue what President Akufo-Addo is doing.”

Meanwhile, Ghana’s total debt as of June 2023 rose to GH₵575.5 billion while the country suspended payment of some selected external debt in December 2022 due to economic crisis.

The country is currently at the mercy of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the second tranche of a US$3 billion bailout after approval in March 2023.
