We Never Endorsed Kennedy Agyapong- Former MMDCEs

Over 250 former Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) have collectively distanced themselves from claims that they have thrown their support behind former lawmaker, Kennedy Agyapong.

It was widely reported that they had endorsed Agyapong as the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2028 Presidential elections after their meeting with him at his private residence on June 19.

However, they unequivocally denied the report, saying, “We spoke, we wined, we dined, and we left.”

“We were there but we did not declare support. His assertion that over 250 came to endorse him is false,” Ebenezer Doku, former MCE for Adenta said at a presser.

Meanwhile, they openly endorsed the 2024 Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, on June 23 following a meeting with him.

“Today we are reading a statement on behalf of all of us. There was no statement read at Kennedy Agyapong’s meeting.”

The party will be holding its Presidential Primary on January 31, 2026. In response to this, interested parties have declared their interest and started campaigning to amass delegates’ support.

Sixty-seven lawmakers last week are said to have thrown their weight behind the former Vice President, as the best foot to lead the NPP in 2028.
