Veep to Launch Revised National Cultural Policy to Drive Growth

Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang will launch the Revised Ghana National Cultural Policy on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 10:00 am at the National Theatre of Ghana, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has announced.

The Ministry described the revised policy as a major milestone in Ghana’s cultural development agenda.

It sets out a renewed strategic framework to preserve and promote the nation’s heritage while using culture as a driver for national development, social cohesion, economic growth, and creative innovation.

According to the Ministry, the policy has been reviewed to reflect contemporary realities at home and abroad.

It places emphasis on the growth of the creative economy, technological advancement, cultural tourism, youth empowerment, cultural education, and the protection of Ghana’s tangible and intangible heritage.

The goal is to position culture as a central pillar of sustainable development and nation-building.

The launch will bring together government officials, traditional authorities, development partners, players in the creative and cultural industries, academia, civil society groups, cultural practitioners, and members of the diplomatic corps.

The Ministry said effective implementation of the revised policy will strengthen Ghana’s cultural institutions, create opportunities for creative entrepreneurs, promote cultural diversity, enhance national identity, and support the government’s broader development agenda.

The public and media are cordially invited to the launch at the National Theatre.
